Award for a little Hero

Chief Large was able to give an award to one unlikely hero is 11-year-old Catherine Davis. She became a hero when she helped ensure the safety of 22 students after her bus driver became temporarily incapacitated during an accident. Great Job Catherine! Read the Daily News story here

Townhome fire 02.28.10

Fire in west end of city. MEFD E-11 & R-6 first due. E-11 made quick work of a bedroom fire while R-6 handled truck work while T-6 was assigned to a med run! T-6 later made the appearance to lend a hand. Mary Esther Fire Department, Okaloosa Island Fire Department, Okaloosa Special Operations and a Battalion Chief from Ocean City-Wright Fire Department responded to the fire.

Multi alarm vacant commercial

T-6 & E-7 assisted on a 2 alarm in a vacant commercial building today. Heavy smoke showing on arrival while moderate N to NW winds fanned the flames.
E-4 & T-4 OIFD were first due while T-6 & E-7 were next on the assignement. The 2nd alarm brought OCW E-3 & Destin E-10, & MEFD E-11 to the scene. More photos to come, check out the Daily News report here


Early morning fire

Early morning in Shalimar puts 3rd due E-7 to work. Upon arrival of OCW T-2 heavy fire & smoke was reported. E-7 was able to make 3rd due just behind OCW E-1(water supply) and advance the initial hoseline. Check out the Daily News report here
