Chief Dutton “suddenly retires”

We are regretfully announcing the sudden retirement of current Fire Chief as seen in the Daily News article here. Our highly revered and respected Fire Chief Mike Dutton “retired” after 10 years of faithful service to the Fort Walton Beach FD. Chief Dutton helped to continue in keeping the Fort Walton Beach FD a Dept. of “1st’s” (in many things) as it always has been, mostly by  implementing the 1st Advanced Life Support FD in the county along with the 2 man special Rescue truck in the downtown district. Chief you will be missed.

In other news The FWB Firefighters regret to announce that, along with Chief Dutton, went the county special operations unit and it’s assetts. FWBFD is no longer in the position to staff and or operate the unit as effectively as under Chief Dutton’s previous leadership. Chief Dutton was instrumental on bringing that unit to the city and participated heavily on it’s operation even on the state level. Again his lack of participation with that vital assett prompted the removal of the unit from our headquarters. It is now stationed @ OCWFCD St-2. FWBFD members are committed to continue to participate in the truck operations county wide and beyond.
